THE MISSION of the Avoca Main Street is to sustain our downtown district as the economic, cultural, and social center of our community by utilizing the four point approach of the National Main Street Trust.

THE VISION is to grow and enhance the quality of life and promote historical preservation in our downtown district, ensuring a healthy, inviting, and vibrant future for our community.

To establish a strong Avoca Main Street organization which utilizes a growing number of participants in the implementation and funding of the program.

Avoca Main Street, Inc. is a non-profit organization and has been designated as an accredited Main Street America™ program for meeting rigorous performance standards set by the National Main Street Center. 



Volunteers are so important to the Main Street program!



Design Goal:

To encourage improvement and appreciation of Avoca's Main Street district's physical appearance.

Each year the Design Committee opens up our history Courthouse for the Southwest Iowa Art Tour and offers tours of the restored building.

The Design Committee is currently working on a building and business histories in the district by researching and designing attractive poster displays. If you would like your property or business to be part of this project, pleast contact



Economic Restructuring Goal:

To strengthen and broaden the economic base of the Avoca Main Street District.

Eleven new businesses have opened in the district since teh inception of the Avoca Main Street Program, and in 2017 Avoca reached the $1,000,000 benchmark goal of downtown investment.

Avoca's Main Street Market 

Promotion Goal:

To market the Avoca Main Street district to establish a unified image and encourage an exciting variety of activities for all members of the community.

Every Wednesday (except July 4) June through September from 5-7 p.m. come to North Elm Street for the Avoca Main Street Farmers Market! 

At the end of the market season we celebrate with our 5-course, chef-hosted, locally-sourced Longest Table event right on Avoca Main Street.
