Aquatic Center Manager

Position Overview:
As the Aquatic Center Manager, you will lead the daily operations of the center, ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe operations. You will oversee the assistant manager, lifeguards, and other staff, and manage all activities within the facility. Your leadership will be key in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for pass-holders and guests. This is a seasonal, full-time position that requires a hands-on approach, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and train a team of lifeguards, fostering a positive and energetic work environment.
- Manage daily operations, including scheduling staff, overseeing timecards, and ensuring proper staffing levels.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including water quality standards, pool equipment maintenance, and emergency safety procedures.
- Manage the aquatic center’s budget, ensuring purchasing decisions align with financial goals.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the bathhouse, pool area, and showers, delegating tasks as necessary.
- Provide outstanding customer service, handling guest inquiries and complaints in a professional manner.
- Monitor and report on facility operations and inventory to the City Administrator.
- Ensure proper staff training on the POS system and oversee its daily use.
- Conduct end-of-season reporting and make recommendations for future improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, must be at least 18 years of age.
- Current certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR, and First Aid.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience managing an aquatic facility or similar recreational environment.
- Experience with staff supervision, scheduling, and budget management.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Skills and Abilities:
- Self-accountability, emotional awareness, and the ability to exercise good judgment under pressure.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers and POS systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and frequently swim, walk, stand, and stoop in a heat-sensitive environment.
Work Environment:
- Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- The role involves physical demands such as swimming, lifting, and working in a fast-paced, sometimes high-stress environment.
