City of Avoca Hires New Police Officer
Welcome Officer Jay Heiny
Avoca, IA — The City of Avoca has announced the hiring of Jay Heiny as our fulltime police officer. “We are incredibly pleased and looking forward to the positive impact Officer Heiny will make in Avoca,”
Officer Heiny had an interest in criminal justice and pursuing a degree when he received a job offer with the Clarinda Police Department. He completed the State of Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in December of 2019. He resigned from the Clarinda Police Department in December to accept the Avoca position. Officer Heiny also graduated from AHSTW in 2016. “I’m extremely excited to be coming back home. This town means a lot to me, and I’ve always been proud of my roots. My wife and I are anticipating a smooth transition back to Avoca.”
Officer Heiny will be dispatched through the Pottawattamie County Communication Center. Please call the non-emergency number 712-328-5737 if you need assistance or 911 for emergencies.
1.) The City of Avoca provides a site to take grass clippings, leaves, twigs, and small to mid size branches.
UNFORTUNATELY, A PERSON OR PERSONS ARE DUMPING CEMENT, HOUSEHOLD ITEMS MADE OF FIBER BOARD OR WOOD!
Violators will be charged $100 for illegal dumping.
Also, the service can be closed to the public.
2.) R & S Waste would like to remind residents to follow the recycling guidelines.
When the INCORRECT PLASTICS are put in the bin or deposited at the trailer, the entire load can be rejected,
Not all plastics are truly recyclable! ONLY #1 AND #2 PLEASE
Also, please rinse out all plastics, cans, bottles etc!
