City of Avoca Announces Resignation of City Administrator, Tyler Trout

AVOCA, IOWA – The City of Avoca announces that City Administrator, Tyler Trout, will be leaving his role later this Fall to assume the position of City Administrator in Charles City, Iowa.

Trout has served the Avoca community since July 2023 with dedication and vision, playing a key role in guiding city operations, strengthening community partnerships, and advancing projects that have contributed to Avoca’s continued growth and vitality.

“Tyler has been a tremendous asset to our community,” said Tom Bruck, Mayor of Avoca. “His leadership and commitment to Avoca have made a lasting impact, and while we are sad to see him go, we are excited for him as he takes this next step in his career.”

During his tenure, Trout has overseen a number of transformative initiatives, including the development of a comprehensive 30-year capital improvement plan, the construction of a new Public Safety Station, and the renovation of the Avoca Veterans’ Community Center. He also advanced innovation in code enforcement through the implementation of cutting-edge acoustic camera technology to address the city’s compression engine break ordinance. In addition, his leadership has strengthened community engagement, highlighted by the creation of a Community Relations Coordinator position to expand and enhance local outreach. By fostering strong partnerships with residents, city staff, and regional stakeholders, Trout has positioned Avoca on a solid path for continued growth and success.

T
rout’s last day with the City of Avoca will be November 19, 2025. The City Council will begin the transition process immediately, which may include the appointment of an interim city administrator while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve the City of Avoca and to work alongside such a supportive community,” Trout said. “Avoca will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to seeing the city continue to thrive.”
