Happy World Book Day! 📖
On Tuesday, April 21st, Mayor Tom Bruck signed a Proclamation during the regular City Council Meeting declaring April 19th through April 25th as Official National Library Week in the City of Avoca.
We encourage all residents to take time this week to visit the Avoca Public Library, explore its resources, and celebrate the important role it plays in our community.

From helping at local events and supporting city initiatives to lending a hand wherever it’s needed, our volunteers are the backbone of what makes Avoca such a special place to live.

Today is a reminder that even the smallest actions can have a lasting impact on our communities and our planet. From reducing waste to supporting local sustainability efforts, each step forward matters.
As a community, we have the opportunity to lead by example, keeping our spaces clean, conserving resources, and thinking about the future we’re building for the next generation.
This Earth Day, consider one simple change you can make, not just today, but every day. 🌱

Avoca Fire & Rescue offers the community to show their national pride with a subscription to our You're A Grand Old Flag Program. For just $50 a year, they'll place a beautiful American flag in your front yard on six national holidays:
• Memorial Day
• Flag Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Patriot Day
• Veterans Day
How it Works
• A 3’x5’ nylon American flag on a 10’ pole will be placed in your yard.
• Flags are set out at dawn and retrieved at dusk.
• On three-day holiday weekends, flags may remain up all weekend.
• A small, flush-mounted ground receptacle will be installed near your curb — safe for mowing and out of the way year-round.
