Additionally, we ran out of membership cards (what a great problem to have!) so there is a slight delay on membership and reciprocal cards. I will update once those have been officially dropped off at the Clubhouse.

What an exciting update to kick off the 2026 season! We are happy to share that the new restroom facilities near Hole 3, Hole 7, and the Tiki Hut has officially been completed.

A big thank you goes out to Martin Construction, McCarthy Trenching, and the additional subcontractors for all of their hard work and dedication in helping complete this project!

We would also like to thank Culture & Recreation Board members Dan Rold, Sean Christensen, and Chris Petersen for donating their time to reshingle the Tiki Hut. A special thank you to Chris for also serving as the project manager throughout this effort.

This improvement enhances the experience for both local golfers and visitors by providing modern, convenient amenities that support one of our community’s valued recreational assets.

Avoca’s Culture & Recreation Board plays an important role in shaping the programs, activities, and spaces that bring our community together. Serving on the Board is a great way to share your ideas, represent residents, and help shape the future of Avoca. Board members also serve as a bridge between residents, local organizations, and city leadership to ensure that arts, culture, and recreation continue to thrive.

Last week, Avoca’s Community Relations Coordinator, Cydney Shriver, attended the 2026 Tourism Conference hosted by Travel Iowa in Altoona, Iowa.

This two-day conference focused on tourism trends, data-driven strategies, and new ideas communities can use to attract visitors and strengthen local economies. Opportunities like this allow our team to learn from industry professionals across the state and bring new ideas back to Avoca.

“We are always looking for ways to highlight everything our community has to offer,” said Cydney. “This conference was a great opportunity to gain new insights and make connections that will help Avoca continue to grow.”
